I cannot believe the first year of nursing school is almost over.  Here are the things I’ve learned this year.

1. My index finger is shorter than the average rectum.
2. Whites do not have to be ironed.
3. If you don’t know the answer admit it right away, but give it a good guess first.
4. Taping two chucks together is a far easier way of assuring that poo will not end up on the bed.
5. A 300 lb. woman can pee three times and poop two times in five minutes, each time waiting until after you have cleaned her up from the first incident.
6. People can continue to poo, even when you have your finger in their rectum.
7. Careplans make a lot of people cry.
8. People die everyday.
9. Scrotums and rectums can be infected and the smell is just wrong.
10. When it’s your time to die, it’s your time. I wish families would let their loved ones go earlier.
11. Nurses work really hard and are incredibly smart.
12. Sometimes despite how hard we try, people die.
13. The inside of lungs are crazy cool.
14. Doctors work really hard to become doctors.
15. I love nursing.
